The critically-acclaimed film Miss Juneteenth starring Nicole Beharie will make its television debut on BET on Nov. 26. It will air at 8 p.m. and will be simulcast across both BET and BET Her.
Written and directed by Channing Godfrey Peoples, the film also stars Kendrick Sampson, Alexis Chikaeze, Lori Hayes and Marcus Maudlin. It was released earlier this year via Vertical Entertainment after its bow at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
In the film Turquoise, a former beauty queen turned hardworking single mother, prepares her rebellious teenage daughter for the “Miss Juneteenth” pageant, hoping to keep her from repeating the same mistakes in life that she did.
Our Sundance review of the film reads: “In addition to Beharie’s absolute magnetism, what is unveiled is a stunning mother/daughter tapestry about the sacrifices of motherhood and why dreams, no matter how they shift and evolve, never truly die.”
