Here’s a first-look clip from the upcoming film Monsters and Men, which is making its debut at Sundance.
It is the feature directorial debut of Reinaldo Marcus Green, who is a Sundance Institute Directors and Screenwriters Lab alumnus (S&A spoke to him about the fellowship here).
This interwoven narrative explores the aftermath of a police killing of a black man. The film is told through the eyes of the bystander who filmed the act, an African-American police officer and a high-school baseball phenom inspired to take a stand.
It stars John David Washington, Anthony Ramos, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Chanté Adams, Nicole Beharie, Rob Morgan.
Monsters and Men premieres Friday afternoon in the U.S. Dramatic Competition lineup.
The below clip features a scene between the characters of Harrison and Morgan.
