Rob Morgan has been cast in the upcoming film Greyhound, which also stars Tom Hanks, Elizabeth Shue and Stephan Graham.

It is directed by Aaron Schnieder and Hanks wrote the script and is producing. Hanks adapted the script based on The Good Shepherd, a novel by C.S. Forester.

According to Deadline, who reported the next, the World War II drama is about “an international convoy of 37 Allied ships, led by captain Ernest Krause (Hanks) in his first command of a U.S. destroyer, crosses the treacherous North Atlantic while hotly pursued by wolf packs of Nazi U-boats.

It is of note that a black actor will have a pivotal role in a WWII film considering the criticism received by another WWII film, Dunkirk, for erasure of black soldiers.

The movie will be filmed in Baton Rouge.

Morgan, who has been in several Netflix films and television series such as Stranger Things and Marvel’s Netflix shows (primarily Daredevil), garnered critical acclaim for his portrayal in Dee Rees’ sweeping epic, Mudbound (which premiered on Netflix). He’ll next be seen in the Netflix film, The Week Of and the RZA-directed Cut Throat City.
