NBA YoungBoy is being sued by a woman who claims she suffered injuries after being thrown offstage at a 2019 concert in St. Louis. On Thursday, Cayden Rutherford filed a lawsuit against the rapper, venue, promoter and security company.
NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell Deshawn Gaulden, performed at The Ambassador music venue when Rutherford got on stage. She said someone working the show threw her offstage, and she landed on the concrete floor and a broken cable, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
According to the news outlet, the lawsuit doesn’t specify how or why she got on stage. The lawsuit claims Rutherford suffered a concussion and injured her neck, back and ankle. It also says physical pain and mental anguish affect her daily life.
Rutherford seeks monetary damages from NBA YoungBoy, the venue, concert promoter Major Entertainment LLC and security company Elite Security, Protection & Services LLC. The lawsuit claims they should have provided more supervision.
The news comes a month after NBA YoungBoy made history as the youngest artist to have 100 songs featured on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In April, he released his latest album, Don’t Try This at Home.
He is on house arrest in Salt Lake City over a 2020 gun possession charge. Earlier this year, he mentioned plans to convert to Mormonism following the completion.
