The holiday season has brought the chop for two of NBC’s shows, Midnight, Texas and Marlon.
Midnight, Texas, based on a series of books by True Blood author Charlaine Harris, won’t return after the end of its second season. The show started its run with showrunner Monica Owusu-Breen, but after the first season, she left the show, making way for Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder to take the helm.
The show featured a diverse ensemble cast including Parisa Fitz-Henley, who played the lovesick witch Fiji, and Peter Mensah, who played a mysterious, charismatic and eccentric vampire Lemuel.
Marlon Wayans’ self-titled comedy, also stopping after two seasons, starred Wayans and Essence Atkins. The series was billed as being loosely based on Wayans’ life. The series also starred Bresah Webb, Diallo Riddle, Notlim Taylor and Amir O’Neil.
NBC might be losing these two shows, but don’t forget the network has picked up one of the biggest shows that Fox was foolish to ax: Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The show features a diverse cast including Terry Crews and Andre Braugher and has already become NBC’s crown jewel in its 2019 comedy lineup.
