SNL Host Dave Chappelle Tells A Tribe Called Quest He’s Going To Show Up

On November 12, Dave Chappelle will make his much-anticipated debut as host of “Saturday Night Live,” with musical guest, hip-hop legends A Tribe Called Quest, who are releasing their first and last studio album in 18 years, titled “We Got It From Here … Thank You 4 Your Service,” out November 11. The new album is the last to feature founding member Phife Dawg, who died in March of this year due to complications relating to diabetes at the age of 45.

This is Chappelle’s first big return to television since leaving his hit Comedy Central series “Chappelle’s Show” in 2006, and there’s much excitement leading up to it. It’s also the first time A Tribe Called Quest will perform on SNL. And with the presidential election, you can be sure it all will be covered throughout the episode.

Worth noting, Chappelle recently drew criticism for defending Republican candidate Donald Trump, and criticizing Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. In a surprise show at The Cutting Room in New York City on November 4, Chappelle shocked the crowd with a 60-minute set, much of it reportedly devoted to slamming Clinton, saying that she was “not right.” Chappelle further defended Trump, taking issue with how the media handled the now infamous “Billy Bush tapes,” commending the Republican candidate for his “resilience” in the face of the leak, seemingly impressed by it, comparing Trump to The Terminator.

However, in the end, Chappelle did affirm his support for Hillary, despite his grievances with her.

No matter; I predict the episode hosted by Chappelle, with musical guest A Tribe Called Quest, will be a ratings smash for NBC! The fact that it’s airing just after the most controversial presidential election in American history, certainly adds some weight to it.

NBC has released 2 teasers for the episode tonight, which are embedded below:
