Paramount+’s NCIS spinoff, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, has been axed.
Deadline reports that NCIS: Tony & Ziva, starring Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly, has been cancelled after one season. Paramount+ didn’t waste much time leaving fans wondering if the show would come back; the streamer cut the cord on the show two months after its Season 1 finale. Luckily, the series seems like it has given fans closure by wrapping up loose ends before Paramount+ gave it the axe.
What Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly say about the series ending
The stars, who also served as executive producers, released a joint statement about the end of the show, saying they felt “incredibly lucky” to have the opportunity to play the NCIS fan-favorite characters once again “to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva’s story.”
“Our deepest thanks go to our extraordinary cast, crew, writers, directors and producers, and to our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ who helped make this dream a reality,” they continued. “But most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.”
The series followed the title characters as they rekindled their love story years after Ziva, who was once thought to be dead, is found alive. Now, with their daughter, the two agents must run throughout Europe from a threat to their family.
Who else starred in the series?
The series also starred Terence Maynard alongside James D’Arcy, Amia Suman, Isla Gie, Julian Ovenden, Maximilian Osinski, Lara Rossi and Nassima Benchiou.
Other executive producers include Laurie Lieser, Shelley Meals, Christina Strain and Mairzee Almas.
