Netflix is becoming more expensive.
According to Variety, Netflix is raising the price of its most popular streaming package, the Standard HD plan, to $13.99 monthly from $12.99. Its Premium streaming package will also raise its price to $17.99 from $15.99. The only package staying the same is its Basic package at $8.99.
“We understand people have more entertainment choices than ever and we’re committed to delivering an even better experience for our members,” said a Netflix spokeswoman in a statement given to Variety. “We’re updating our prices so that we can continue to offer more variety of TV shows and films–in addition to our great fall lineup. As always we offer a range of plans so that people can pick a price that works best for their budget.”
Current subscribers seeing the new rates over the upcoming months, according to a Netflix representative. Netflix will send subscribers via email about the new prices, and subscribers will also be notified within the Netflix app 30 days before their price increase goes into effect. The increase will take effect according to each subscriber’s billing cycle. New subscribers will get the new rates immediately.
