With its Netflix debut less than a month away, High Flying Bird now has a trailer!
Headlined by André Holland, it is the latest feature from director Steven Soderbergh, following 2018’s Unsane, which starred Claire Foy. This is the second collaboration between Soderbergh and Holland, as the director’s acclaimed Cinemax series, The Knick, starred the Moonlight actor.
Soderbergh directed a script from Tarell Alvin McCraney, the Academy Award-winning writer of Moonlight.
High Flying Bird features a talented ensemble cast, including Zazie Beetz, Melvin Gregg, Sonja Sohn, Kyle MacLachlan, Caleb McLaughlin, Zachary Quinto and Bill Duke.
In the film, set in the middle of a pro-basketball lockout, a sports agent named Ray Burke (Holland) finds himself “caught in the face-off between the league and the players. His career is on the line, but Ray is playing for higher stakes. With only 72 hours to pull off a daring plan, he outmaneuvers all the power-players as he uncovers a loophole that could change the game forever. The outcome raises questions of who owns the game – and who ought to.”
NBA stars Reggie Jackson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Donovan Mitchell make appearances in the film as well.
