It’s Morphin Time again with Netflix‘s upcoming Power Rangers 30th anniversary special, which will see stars from the original seasons return. The special, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, debuts onApril 19.
Members of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers cast are coming back together for a special chronicling the longstanding children’s show. Walter Emanuel, who played the original Black Ranger, said to EW that “our Ranger family runs deep.”
David Yost, who played the original Blue Ranger, who told EW that the reunion was “amazing” and “surreal” to be on the Power Rangers set once again. Other actors from the first few seasons that are coming back nclude Catherine Sutherland, Steve Cardenas, Karan Ashley and Johnny Yong Bosch.
Barbara Goodson, the voice of Rita Repulsa, and Richard Horvitz, the voice fo Alpha 5, are also returning and joining the cast is Charlie Kersh who plays Minh, the daughter of the original Yellow Ranger, played by Thuy Trang, who died in 2001 in a car accident. Also missing from the cast is Jason David Frank, who played the original Green Ranger. Frank died by suicide in 2022.
The Netflix special will bring the Rangers back together to face off against “a familiar threat from the past.”
“In the midst of a global crisis, they are called on once again to be the heroes the world needs,” according to Netflix‘s description. “Inspired by the legendary mantra from the franchise ‘Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger,’ Once & Always reminds everyone when you become a Ranger, who are always a part of the Ranger family and always welcome.”
Emanuel can currently be seen in a cameo in House Party, currently in theaters.
