The trailer for Night Comes On has been released, and it looks like it’s going to be a tour de force. Between the realistic settings and acting, plus the glimpses of the searing script we hear in the trailer, Night Comes On seems like a film people will be talking about for years to come.
The film, which was acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films this May, is co-written by Ozark actress Jordana Spiro (also the director) and The Shade Room founder Angelica Nwandu and stars The Deuce‘s Dominique Fishback and newcomer Tatum Marilyn Hall, both of whom have already been lauded by critics after its world premiere at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival (the film itself won the NEXT Innovator Award).
The film follows Angel LaMere (Fishback) after she is released from juvenile detention on the eve of her 18th birthday. Continually haunted by her memories, Angel goes on a journey with her 10-year-old sister [Hall] to avenge her mother’s death.
Spiro serves as an executive producer along with Matthew Spitzer, Bill Harnisch, Ruth Ann Harnisch, David Stone, David Boies III, Donna Gruneich, Kevin Gruneich, Jenifer Westphal, Patty Quillin and Larry Taube. Alvaro R. Valente, Jonathan Montepare, Danielle Renfrew Behrens serve as producers.
Night Comes On comes to theaters and VOD August 3.
