According to Entertainment Tonight, the NBA announced they’d be suspending Udoka for the 2022-2023 season for violating the franchise’s code of conduct. When the news broke, shared via Twitter by ESPN host Malika Andrews of NBA Today, Udoka gave a public apology for the alleged affair that took place with an unnamed female member of the organization’s staff.

Long and the former Boston Celtics coach started dating in 2009. They’ve been engaged for over seven years and share a 11-year-old son, Kez, and the actress’ son, Massai, from a previous relationship.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the mother of two shared that she decided to leave the set of a production she was working on because it wasn’t in “alignment with [her] purpose.”

“It broke my heart to have to do it because that’s not who I am, but I knew that I needed to do it because it didn’t feel good in my belly,” she told THR.

She said this was the first time she had ever done anything like that while working on a project, but explained that “there was also this sense that the business I have to deal with at home is more important to me than teaching a white director-producer how to tell a Black story.”

“I went home to be with my son, and that was what was most important to me because he was not having an easy time,” Long said. “I think the most heartbreaking thing about all of this was seeing my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private situation public.”

She said she feels that the franchise’s choice to do a press conference to disclose its decision regarding Udoka’s suspension wasn’t ideal. Because the matter affects her family personally, she removed her son from school when the organization broke the “devastating” news.

“He still has moments where it’s not easy for him,” the Love Jones actress said. “If you’re in the business of protecting women — I’m sorry, no one from the Celtics organization has even called to see if I’m OK, to see if my children are OK. It’s very disappointing.”

Shortly after the entanglement was uncovered, Long issued a statement of appreciation for the overwhelming support she began receiving.

“The outpouring of love and support from family, friends and the community during this difficult time means so much to me. I ask that my privacy be respected as I process the recent events. Above all, I am a mother and will continue to focus on my children,” she said in a statement sent to Entertainment Tonight.

There haven’t been any updates on the status of the couple’s relationship and whether they have parted ways or are choosing to remain together. At this time, Long’s main concern is her children and the work she has on her plate, which includes the highly anticipated TV series The Best Man: Final Chapters.

The Best Man: Final Chapters will be available to stream on Peacock on Dec. 22.
