Since the release of “Super Freaky Girl (Queen Mix),” Nicki Minaj, born Onika Miraj, hasn’t stopped turning mainstream and social media upside down. Internet users have often accused Minaj of creating animosity between female rap artists and using her industry weight to eliminate the competition. But never one to bite her tongue, Minaj has no issue addressing the critics when she claps back.
The most recent to feel the wrath of Minaj was the Grammys. Minaj accused the Grammy Awards of prioritizing new artists. The accusation came after they moved “Super Freaky Girl” from the rap category to the pop category. According to The Independent, the 39-year-old- rapper caught wind of the switch on Oct.13. This is when the first-round ballots went out to Recording Academy voters.
Minaj took to her Twitter to air out her frustration.
The Queens, N.Y. native tweeted, “I have no prob being moved out the RAP category as long as we r ALL being treated FAIRLY. If SFG has 2B moved out RAP then so does Big Energy! ANY1 who says diff is simply a Nicki hater or a troll. I’d actually LUV 2 c a more street record win- male OR female! IJS rightIsRight”

She then went to Instagram and posted a 17-minute video titled “Dear Grammys.”

In the video, Minaj reviewed her transgressions with the Recording Academy.
“If you can’t tell by now that there is a concerted effort to give newer artists things that they really don’t deserve over people who have been deserving for many years, then you’re not paying attention,” the MC stated.
“And by the way, this is not to say any song is bad or any female rapper is bad,” she continued. “I always say this: Any rapper, female or male, that wins a Grammy, you should be f**king proud of yourself.”
Minaj then questioned, “But why is the goalpost only ever moved when it’s Nicki? Well, I’ll tell you why. They don’t want the people that they have in the industry to go up against me.”
The rapper said that placing her in the pop category was a ploy to stop her from winning by placing her against more genre-familiar names.
“Now, what do you think is gonna happen when they start voting on these pop categories? And it’s a bunch of people, white or wherever they’re from, or older, and they have to decide between Nicki Minaj and Harry Styles, or Nicki Minaj and Adele?”
Minaj claimed this is another way the industry has tried to eliminate her from winning.
“That’s purposely designed so Nicki is not in the rap category that we don’t want any competition in. Put her in pop so she has more competition and less of a chance to win.”
Minaj’s feelings toward new artists getting to claim her spot in the rap category is the complete opposite of her long-time nemesis, Cardi B.
Blavity previously reported that Cardi urged fans to acknowledge new Black indie artists who receive Grammy nominations, saying, “It’s their time now. They need support too.”
But Minaj isn’t ready to give up her throne. And one artist she isn’t ready to make space for in particular is Latto.
After Minaj mentioned Latto’s single “Big Energy” in her category rant against the Grammys, the Atlanta native didn’t appreciate being included in Minaj’s beef.

In an attempt to call out Minaj as a bully, Latto takes a hit at her age.
Minaj’s response reminded everyone that her last name is Mrs.Petty, tweeting that she thought Latto was 35 years old — 12 years old than the newer rapper’s real age, 23.

In a possible attempt to clear things up, Latto called Minaj on the phone. But like the woman she once called an inspiration, she took their private conversation to the public with a post of the recorded conversation.
