NLE Choppa, the 19-year-old rapper-turned-herbalist behind hits like "Camelot," recently opened up about actively practicing semen retention and celibacy. For context, semen retention is the practice of a male consciously trying to avoid ejaculating during sex or masturbation, and it's also commonly known as "edging."
Various unconfirmed benefits come from semen retention—including the supposed alleviation of mental fatigue, anxiety, and depression—and many commonly engage in the practice by participating in "No Nut November."
NLE Choppa dished on the practice during a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, and he didn't hold back from discussing the supposed benefits of semen retention.
"I went celibate for like a month 'cause I realized what having sex did. I realized how tired I was after having sex," he stated. "You can have sex, but I feel like semen retention is the focus. Like, I tell people all the time, one nut is equivalent to like eight miles. You can run eight miles with one nut. It can make a whole life, so, you know how powerful it is, so you can't just keep giving it to everybody."
Despite his belief that semen retention is physically beneficial, NLE Choppa revealed that he doesn't quite have enough willpower to practice it consistently.
"I'd be a muth*f***in' lie, though, if I could be like 'Every time I have sex, I hold my semen back," he added. "That's why I'd rather just go celibate. But some people are that disciplined to the T that they can have sex and not get off. And sometimes I do, but if I do, it's not on purpose."
"I don't do it every time. I go on certain breaks," he continued. "For me to go celibate for a week is big for me. Because I know I'm a good-looking male, everybody wants you. Everybody wants a piece of you. And I'm young too; I'm still 19."
"You still gotta live life. But I feel like with me, to be able to implement something so small like that, to me like semen retention and celibacy at that age, is huge because a lot of n***as be looking at me crazy when I say that," NLE Choppa said.
NLE Choppa is far from the only rapper to practice in semen retention. Last year, Kevin Gates spoke on the supposed benefits of edging, and Kodak Black soon followed suit by endorsing No Nut November. Joey Bada$$ also recently discussed the topic on different occasions, showing that the practice of semen retention is growing more and more popular among various artists.
