Netflix has dropped a teaser and several first-look images for On My Block season 3. The coming-of-age dramedy has also received a March 11 premiere date at the streaming giant.
The season seems to pick right up at the end of Season 2 when Monse, Cesar, Ruby and Jamal were kidnapped by an unknown person. The person is revealed to be a mysterious woman, but we don’t know too much about her. The official description of the season reads,
“They thought life was about to return to what passes for normal in Freeridge, but the stakes just got even higher.”
The third season will have eight episodes. It was first renewed in April, but the status of the show was unknown for a while as the lead actors and Netflix remained at an impasse during contract renegotiations. The season officially began production after the leads secured major salary increases.
Co-created by Lauren Iungerich (Awkward), Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft (All Eyez on Me), the series is a coming-of-age comedy-drama about four bright and street-savvy friends navigating their way through the triumph, pain and the newness of high school set in the rough inner city. It’s set in a predominantly Hispanic and African-American part of South Central Los Angeles and follows a fearless foursome as they enter high school and confront the challenges of adolescence and growing up in their neighborhood.
Sierra Capri, Diego Tinoco, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Jessica Marie Garcia and Julio Macias star.
