GreenleafThe 15th annual Tribeca Film Festival (TFF today announced a further expansion of TV with a new program, "Tribeca Tune In" – a combination of world premieres and special events, including season sneak peeks and finales, and conversations with creative directors, producers, writers and actors in television.

Tribeca Tune In features six season premieres, three sneak peeks and season finales, three conversations and four special events. Six anticipated new television series will premiere at this year’s festival. Of note to this blog, Oprah Winfrey will join fellow executive producers and cast members for the world premiere of OWN’s new original drama series, the mega-church drama "Greenleaf." The series takes viewers into the unscrupulous world of the powerful Greenleaf family and their Memphis megachurch where secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful.

After the screening of the series’ first episode, there will be a conversation with executive producer and actress Winfrey; executive producers Craig Wright and Clement Virgo, and stars Merle Dandridge, Keith David and Lynn Whitfield.

The event is set for Wednesday 4/20, at 5 PM, at John Zuccotti Theater at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center.

"Greenleaf" is set to premiere on OWN in June.

Also premiering will be "Roots" – the History channels reboot of the miniseries. TFF attendees will get a special opportunity to see an episode of the eight-hour miniseries reboot, in advance of its Memorial Day premiere. After the screening of the episode, a conversation with select cast and the directors of the series (names to be announced later) will follow.

The event will take place on Thursday 4/21, 6 PM, at the SVA1 theater.

"Since TFF celebrated the show finale of ‘Friends’ in 2004 to last year’s festival which showcased premieres of ‘Inside Amy Schumer,’ ‘Chef’s Table,’ and the Golden Globe winning ‘Mr Robot,’ TFF has long since championed storytelling in a multitude of ways including traditional and online television platforms," said Genna Terranova, Festival Director at the Tribeca Film Festival. "Tribeca Tune In gives us the opportunity to invite people off their couches and share their love and curiosity for great storytelling together. This year’s selection is a showcase of the innovative voices, comedic creators and visionary producers who are making TV the exceptional medium it is today."
