Paradise Season 2 has come to an end. In the Season 2 finale of the Hulu series, titled “Exodus,” we got many answers, but with shocking new revelations, there are still many questions that Season 3 will have to answer. Here’s everything we learned and what new questions we have after the finale.
What is A.L.E.X.?
There have been many fan theories as to who or what Alex is, but it was revealed that Alex was created by Dylan (Thomas Doherty). Nine years ago, Dylan was attending one of Dr. Henry Miller’s lectures at CalTech when he told him that he created an AI-controlled quantum computer and gave it a brain that can learn from past runs and predict anything that can go wrong in the future within seconds. Dr. Miller agrees to work with Dylan to build Alex out more but would need to be the face of the project since Dylan was not even 18 years old yet. After securing an unlimited budget from Samantha “Sinatra” Redmond (Julianne Nicholson), they built the machine out and discovered that Alex can manipulate time and figure out outcomes that haven’t even happened yet. It is safe to assume that the machine can change outcomes, which will come into play in Season 3, as Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) is the key to activating it to potentially save the world.
Alex is currently being hidden in a secret second bunker that only Sinatra and Dr. Chase know about, 100 miles away under the Denver Airport. One thing that Alex has predicted in the finale is Sinatra will die by the end of the day, as this is the last time she will visit Alex.
Is Dylan really Sinatra’s son?
In Episode 7 of Season 2, Sinatra was led to believe that Dylan is her son from another timeline. If Dylan had not passed in the present-day timeline, then Dylan would have been twenty-six. Dr. Henry Miller told Dylan nine years previously that he wasn’t old enough to vote, meaning he wasn’t even eighteen yet, and with nine years passing, that would put Dylan around 26 years old. Since the series hasn’t fully confirmed that the Dylan we see present day isn’t from a different timeline, the jury is still out.
What is Exodus?
The title of the finale episode is Exodus, which has a plethora of meanings. In the bunker, Exodus is an evacuation protocol that Dr. Torabi (Sarah Shahi) calls into action after their attempts to stop the nuclear meltdown fail. This also signifies the exodus from the bunker, as the radiation released would be too much for anyone to survive. By the end of the episode, Dr. Torabi is able to lead everyone out of the bunker into the desert to safety, as we are unaware of where they will relocate everyone to, given we don’t know if the second bunker is equipped with housing for the displaced residents of the first bunker.
Is Jane alive?
One of the shocking revelations comes towards the end of the episode, as we are shown Dr. Torabi’s empty shower where Jane Driscoll (Nicole Brydon Bloom)’s body was previously laying. It seems that Jane survived the stab wounds from Dr. Torabi and is possibly on the run. We knew a few knife wounds wouldn’t keep the lethal assassin down for too long.
Is Sinatra alive?
Things get emotional in the finale as Dylan reveals to Xavier and Sinatra that the nuclear meltdown will result in radiation being spread into the real world once the nukes explode. Sinatra tells them that if they can get to the tower, she will be able to close the doors to stop the blast from getting outside. What she doesn’t reveal until they get there is that she would need to stay and sacrifice herself to ensure the doors are closed. She kisses Dylan and tells them that everything is going to be ok.
After she closes the doors, she walks onto the streets of the neighborhood and finds herself in front of a toy horse that her son Dylan used to ride on when he was young. We then see a young manifestation of Dylan and he takes her hand as we are to assume she died in the explosion. Now, if there is anything we have learned in the universe of Paradise, it is that no one ever truly stayed dead, especially when time travel is involved.
Paradise Season 2 is now streaming in full on Hulu.
