The Television Critics Association (TCA) announced the nominees for their 2019 awards Wednesday. TCA nominees compete for accolades across different categories honoring outstanding achievements in news and information, youth, reality, drama, comedy, miniseries, and sketch/variety shows. The winners will be announced at the invitation-only ceremony, hosted by Desus & Mero, on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Pose leads all nominations with four, a statistic that it shares with Netflix’s Russian Doll. Netflix’s limited series from Ava DuVernay, When They See Us, earned two major nominations, including the TCA’s biggest award, Program of the Year. Pose‘s nominations include an Individual Achievement in Drama nomination for Billy Porter, the only Black actor/actress nominated for a solo acting award. Pose, like When They See Us, is also nominated for Program of the Year.
Per Shadow And Act’s stated interest, other notable nominees include Homecoming (Outstanding Achievement in Drama) and Russian Doll (Program of The Year), both of which have Black co-leads in Stephan James and CharlieBarnettt, respectively. The Good Fight, which co-stars Cush Jumbo, Nyambi Nyambi, Michael Boatman, Audra McDonald and Delroy Lindo, is also nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Drama. Desus & Mero is nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sketch/Variety Shows and both America to Me and Surviving R. Kelly are nominated for Outstanding Achievement in News/Information.

Every category is bursting with hard choices, but we couldn’t ask for a better problem to have as we gather together to honor yet another terrific television season and celebrate 35 years of the TCA Awards.”
