Power move! Shadow and Act has learned that Courtney A. Kemp, most known as the creator of the Power universe, has inked a multi-year, overall deal with Netflix. At the streaming giant, she’ll develop new series and other projects at Netflix. She will write and executive produce all projects through End of Episode banner. She moves to Netflix from Lionsgate (the owner of Starz) where she re-inked her initial overall deal back in 2018.

Netflix states that the move will “enable the company to expand its creative footprint with an eye towards a global reach; while also continuing to focus on creating stories about and from women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ voices. End of Episode President Chris Selak will join in the move to Netflix, continuing in her role and leading the company alongside Kemp. The company’s development and support teams will also make the move, continuing in their respective roles.”

In a statement received by Shadow and Act, Kemp said, “I am incredibly excited to join the Netflix family, and to continue to develop the kind of entertainment that End of Episode is known for– diverse, multilingual, watercooler, social-media fueled series that pack a serious punch. I am looking forward to working with Bela and her team, who really appreciate the voice and perspective that we bring to the table.”

Kemp’s original Power series has expanded into a universe of four additional shows, two of which are currently on the air. 50 Cent’s G-Unit Television also a producer on the Power series, still has an overall deal at Lionsgate.
