Power Book II: Ghost stars Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo have announced a new venture, Twenty Two Entertainment, under which they will produce films, television series and other projects. It is funded by Artists for Artists, a new company from Kenan Thompson and John Ryan Jr.
As reported by Deadline, The first order of business for Twenty Two Entertainment is the production and rollout for the duo’s podcast, The Crew Has It, which will launch in April on all major podcast platforms. The podcast plans to tackle the Power Universe and interview cast from the series, discuss the entertainment and interview artists across musical genres and industries.
“Over the last couple of years, I’ve watched Gianni and Michael transition from actors to brands?” Ryan stated. “They have their finger on the pulse of entertainment and pop culture. Kenan and I built Artists For Artists to support hard-working creators like Gianni and Michael, and we look forward to sharing their dynamic slate of entertainment.”
As far Rainey and Paolo, the business partners shared, “We are excited to partner with John and Kenan at AFA. They are big supporters of artists, and they allow artists to have control and ownership of their work, which is important in this new multimedia wave of the industry.”
As we reported late last year, Artists is “a 360 incubator for artists to create and produce their own content, as a full-service production company, with a commerce division, and bespoke management representation. AFA will build companies with artists and brands that the artists and brands themselves co-own. Much like the changes in ownership in the music business, Artists For Artists is a home for artists to own their own content and commerce, while partnering with global distributors.”
