It’s that time of the month again when Netflix releases its list of films and TV series that will be coming to and leaving the premiere subscription video on demand service during the following month. So if any of the below titles are of interest to you, add them to your watchlists/calendars, noting when they are expected to arrive or exit.
In addition to the list of what’s coming and leaving in June, here’s an extended look at the titles coming this summer to join the May hits 13 Reasons Why and Dear White People:
Marvel’s Luke Cage – Season 2
Launches June 22
After clearing his name, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so well-known has only increased the pressure he feels to protect the community. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.
Marvel’s Luke Cage is executive produced by series showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker (Southland, Ray Donovan) along with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Daredevil), and Jim Chory (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Daredevil). The premiere episode of season two is directed by Lucy Liu (Future World).
The series also stars Simone Missick, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Mustafa Shakir, Gabrielle Dennis and Rosario Dawson. Marvel’s Luke Cage is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix. All 13 original season 2 episodes of Marvel’s Luke Cage will premiere exclusively on Netflix.
GLOW – Season 2
Launches June 29
Inspired by the short-lived but beloved show from the ’80s, GLOW tells the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling. In addition to working with 12 Hollywood misfits, Ruth also has to compete with Debbie Eagan (Betty Gilpin), a former soap actress who left the business to have a baby only to be sucked back into work when her picture-perfect life is not what it seems. And at the wheel is Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), a washed-up, B-movie director who now must lead this group of women on the journey to wrestling stardom.
There’s also the Netflix original film Set It Up, the Netflix special W. Kamau Bell: Private School Negro and season 2 of the Netflix original Nailed It. In addition, non-Netflix originals coming to the service include the first season of NBC’s Marlon.
