Queen Latifah is expanding her relationship with 20th Century Fox TV (via her Flavor Unit production company), teaming up with faith-based content producer Relevé Entertainment to develop what is described as a bible-themed drama series titled “The Scroll.”
Michael Elliot (“Brown Sugar,” “Just Wright”) will script the project which will reimagine some of the Bible’s most popular stories, but modernized and set in the present day.
Elliot will executive produce with Holly Carter via her Relevé Entertainment (producer of feature films “The Gospel” and “A Beautiful Soul”), as well as Flavor Unit’s Latifah and her partner Shakim Compere.
The project shouldn’t be expected until 2018 or beyond.
Latifah’s Flavor Unit continues to build out its film and TV production empire. In the last 12 months alone, the company has produced/executive produced content for the big and small screens, fiction and non-fiction, including “The Perfect Match,” “The Art of Organized Noize,” “The Real MVP: The Wanda Durant Story,” “The Rap Game,” and more.
