Barry Jenkins and his production company Pastel are reuniting with Moonlight distributor A24 to produce All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt, according to Deadline. The project is from exciting up-and-comer Raven Jackson, a 2019 Tisch graduate. She will helm the film in her feature directorial debut.
The film will focus on the life of a Black woman living in rural Tennessee. Other than that, the details of the storyline are being kept secret. The film was selected by Jenkins himself for the Indie Memphis 2019 Black Filmmaker Residency in Screenwriting. The project has also received support from Cinereach, SFFILM, IFP, Film Independent, Tribeca Film Institute, New Orleans Film Society, Kenneth Rainin Foundation and Westridge Foundation.
Jackson has a resume that includes her work as a photographer, filmmaker and poet. She has been featured in PANK, The New York Times, Kweli and other outlets as well as having her films A Guide to Breathing Underwater and Nettles streaming on the Criteron Channel. Her latest project is a chapbook of poetry called little violences.
