Red, White & Royal Blue is a step closer to its sequel.

Amazon MGM Studios has announced that Red, White & Royal Wedding, the sequel to the popular film based on Casey McQuiston’s romance novel, is in production.

New and returning stars for ‘Red, White & Royal Wedding’

Uma Thurman, Sarah Shahi, Ellie Bamber, Clifton Collins Jr., Stephen Fry, Thomas Flynn, Aneesh Sheth and Malcolm Atobrah will reprise their roles alongside returning leads Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine. Joining the cast are Henry Ashton and Alex Høgh Andersen.

Jamie Babbit will direct from a script by Gemma Bergess, Matthew López, who also co-wrote and directed the first film, and McQuiston.

Who exactly is getting married?

No details about the plot are being revealed. Could it be Perez’s character Alex Claremont-Diaz and Galitzine’s character Prince Henry? There is no source material for a second film, and the actors have remained coy about it, with Galitzine saying in a behind-the-scenes video that marriage could be “a long ways off.”

Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Schechter Films are producing with Berlanti Schechter’s Michael McGrath. López and Sullivan Street Productions’ Jennifer Salke also produce with McQuiston and Michael Constable executive producing.
