Producers Sam Slater and Houston King announced today that Regina Hall, Haley Lu Richardson, James Le Gros, AJ Michalka, Dylan Gelula, Shayna McHayle, Lea DeLaria, Jana Kramer and Brooklyn Decker will star in writer/director Andrew Bujalski’s feature film “Support the Girls.”

The story: Lisa Conroy (Regina Hall) may not love managing the restaurant Double Whammies, but she loves her employees more than anything, not only Danyelle (McHayle), and Maci (Richardson) her closest friends, but also her extended family that includes co-workers Krista (Michalka), Jennelle (Gelula), and regular Bobo (DeLaria). Unfortunately, the cheap, curmudgeonly owner Ben Cubby (Le Gros) doesn’t care nearly as much, and confronts Lisa when he learns that she’s using the restaurant to raise money for Shaina (Kramer), an employee in legal trouble related to an abusive boyfriend. To get even, the girls decide to sabotage the restaurant on the night of a major mixed martial arts fight.

Decker will portray Kara, the manager of a rival restaurant.

Sam Slater will produce for Burn Later Productions alongside Houston King of Houston King Productions. Jonathan Fryd, Scott Carmel and David Bernon are Executive Producers. The film is currently shooting in Austin, Texas.

Producers Slater and King stated, “After we produced Andrew’s “Results”, we find ourselves again incredibly fortunate to work with him on a comedy that drills into a unique microcosm of American culture while also shedding light on broader topical issues of sexism, capitalism and more.”

Writer/Director, Andrew Bujalski’s most recent films include “Results” – starring Guy Pearce, Cobie Smulders and Kevin Corrigan, which premiered in competition at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and was released by Magnolia Pictures later that year, garnering Independent Spirit and Gotham Award nominations; and “Computer Chess,” which premiered in competition at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, won the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize, and was later nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards. Kino Lorber released the film in 2013.
