Nene Leakes is backtracking on her support of her former co-star Porsha Williams’ engagement. Williams announced her engagement to her current Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star Falynn Guobadia’s estranged husband, Simon. Per Williams, she and Simon began dating again and are madly in love.
Leakes initially corroborated Williams’ announcement by writing, “Always choose love.” But after all of the backlash from fans, she’s changing her tune. After Leakes caught wind of the seemingly love triangle, she Tweeted: “Reading is fundamental. I posted a comment and didn’t really read. I just saw love and relationship then posted. You have to keep it real as a friend, it looks strange but I don’t know any details.”
In a follow-up Instagram live interview with Sheen Magazine, Leakes revealed she actually thought Williams was back with her ex-fiance Dennis McKinley, as McKinley was also featured in a series of photos with her and Simon. Williams notes that all three are committed to co-parenting Williams and McKinley’s daughter Pilar.
“I saw Dennis and this man, right? In her pictures. I never really paid much attention. I just saw Dennis and a guy, right… I thought he was Diane’s boyfriend. Porsha’s momma,” she said.
Despite the looks of things, Williams also made sure to note that she and Falynn are not friends, despite Falynn being introduced as such on the show. Leakes says she believes Williams on that end.
“Believe that they probably are not friends, okay? They probably aren’t friends. They probably never were friends. And that is probably the truth. Now I’m just going to have to second that because on the show everything appears to be something that it’s truly not.”
Williams and Simon have remained mum since their engagement announcement broke the internet. Falynn released a statement thanking fans for their support, noting that her focus is on healing and finalizing the divorce.
