On Monday, as everyone reflected on Mother’s Day Weekend, Porsha Williams of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta dropped a major bomb- she’s engaged to RHOA costar Falynn Guobadia’s estranged husband, Simon Guobadia.
Williams took to Instagram in a now-deleted post to share pictures of her Mother’s Day. Fans quickly noticed that “church hug” she gave her child’s father Dennis McKinley and the ring on her finger. While some fans speculated that McKinley and Williams were back on, others noted Williams’ body language with Guobadia in pictures.
On Monday, Williams went ahead and confirmed the speculation on Instagram, revealing that she is engaged to Simon. She said that the relationship “began a month ago” and while it’s a short period of time, the two are “crazy in love”. Williams stated that she wakes up and chooses happiness daily.
To clear things up, Williams added, “For all of you that need facts, I get the optics but Simon filed for divorce from a previous marriage in January.”
“I had nothing to do with their divorce filing. That’s between the two of them,” she continued. “Falynn and I are not friends, and Simon’s divorce has been settled. Our relationship is a positive, loving step forward in everybody’s lives.”
Williams also mentioned in the same post that both McKinley and Guobadia “are committed to being respectful and supportive of my happiness in this situation, as well as being the best co-parents they can be to baby PJ.”
People reports that the divorce was filed in January and has not been finalized. Simon and Falynn have only reached a settlement agreement. Simon shared his sentiments on his Instagram account as well. “Getting married again was never a question in my mind, but when,” Simon wrote. He “did not expect to be blessed with a mate so soon.”
“The interesting thing about life is that it is an individual journey. Porsha and I, with the support of our loved ones have chosen to travel together as one and spread love and positivity to our community which is in desperate need of positive and healthy images of the best versions of ourselves.”
He added, “We travel this road not lightly considering we have being [sic] in relationships that have thought us to want and do better for ourselves. I asked her to marry me because we checked ALL of each other’s boxes, and then some. We have done the individual work to sustain a healthy relationship, and I stand next to her, proud that we found each other. What we have is what we wish every single one of you out there – happiness. So when I asked…she said yes. That is ALL that mattered. Thank you again for your love and support. Truly appreciated”
All of this is guaranteed to be a huge storyline for season 14 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. While it is presumed that Williams will be returning as a peach holder, Guobadia hasn’t confirmed if she’ll be returning. She was a friend of the show for season 13 and perhaps with all of this news, she may be a new peach holder for the upcoming season.
