Tyra Banks is causing quite the stir among Bravo’s housewives stars. The former supermodel is currently hosting Dancing With the Stars and she’s in the hot seat for allegedly trying to ban cast members of any Real Housewives shows from competing in the reality competition.
The Real Housewives of Potomac star Ashley Darby is disappointed at the idea that she’ll never compete on the series if Banks’ change is implemented. She famously competed in a celebrity dancing charity event that aired during her second season of the show.
Darby shared a video of various clips of her dancing on her Instagram in response to Banks’ alleged remarks.
“Hearing that RHs are allegedly “banned” from performing on #DWTS was a bummer,” Darby captioned the video. “But I still have my on the prize! I’ll be on that dance floor one day!”
Darby’s comments come a little over a week after The Real Housewives of Atlanta OG Nene Leakes blasted Banks on her new digital show, saying, “Tyra, I thought you and I were cool, girl. I was on Dancing With The Stars before you was, okay?”
Banks has denied that she ever made such a choice, hinting to Extra that she’s receiving backlash from all angles because she’s the new host. I think a lot of it is that people don’t like change,” she said. Banks’ publicist also refuted the rumor in a statement to Page Six. saying “it’s 100 percent untrue.” She also says Banks has no control over casting and understands the viewership Housewives have, noting, “She’s a huge fan of the Housewives and everyone knows Tyra is a businesswoman first.”
Dancing With the Stars have had dozens of reality stars, including housewives, compete on the series including Beverly Hills stars Lisa Vanderpump, Lisa Rinna, and Erika Girardi. Other Atlanta cast members who’ve competed aside from Leakes are Kim Fields and Kim Zolciak-Biermann.
