The once budding friendship between The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City stars Mary Cosby and Whitney Rose appears to be fractured. Though we are still in the early stages of Season 2 of the popular Bravo franchise, Cosby and Rose’s latest interviews and social media activity hints that their issues will unravel as the seasons progress.
Cosby is upset over an interview Rose did with Access Hollywood’s Housewives Recap. Rose was asked about the rumors circulating that Cosby’s Faith Temple Pentecostal Church where she serves as First Lady and a pastor is a cult. Cosby has denied such but Rose says the rumors persist. She’s tried asking Cosby about it but says Cosby refuses to speak with her about the subject.
“Mary won’t speak to me so I, unfortunately, don’t have the opportunity to talk to her about it,” Rose said. “That’s the type of friend I am. I will put out fires and shut the door like, ‘Girl, what is going on? Why are they saying this?’ But, she never affords me to have the conversation.
Cosby didn’t like Rose’s comments and lashed out on Twitter. “Yes she’s racist I said it racist! Like her cousin” Cosby tweeted, talking about Rose’s cousin and another RHOSLC co-star, Heather Gay. “You are such a liar! Whitney Rose. You know you don’t talk to me! With your Bobble Head! Humble yourself!”
She followed up with a separate tweet, accusing Rose of taking advantage of other women. “Whitney Rose…needs to worry about on [sic] the women’ she took advantage of in the lady’s restroom one night at a club,” she wrote. “Talk about your truth you liar.”
Cosby also shaded Rose for her love of pole-dancing, writing, “You need to stop lying on me because your [sic] being the most the season with your pole dancing mentality,” she sniped. “you & I will never be friends why would I talk to a fake Whitney.”
Rose is taking the high road, tweeting in response to Cosby: “I don’t respond to crazy or baseless accusations. May we all try a little harder to lead with love.”
Cosby previously addressed the rumors about her church in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “Clearly I’m not gonna get on national television, be a ‘Housewife’ and be in a cult. Like, come on. I believe in my church. There’s no cult. My church members, they know those are false allegations. Those are ridiculous. It’s the people that are looking for fault.”
The two were allied by the season 1 reunion, with Rose even taking her father, who struggles with addiction, to Cosby’s church. It’s unclear what triggered their issues but it should play out this season.
RHOSLC airs every Sunday on Bravo at 9 p.m. EST.
