Ice Cube and Kevin Hart are back for another chapter in the Ride Along franchise.

Deadline reports that Hart and Ice Cube are reuniting for Ride Along 3, with producer Will Packer and director Tim Story also in early talks to return to the film series. Daniel Gold is set to write the script.

According to the article, the original stars and creative team have wanted to make a third film for a long time, but they could never agree on ideas regarding the third film’s direction. Supposedly, Gold’s script gives the team something they can all agree on.

Along with Packer, who will produce via Will Packer Productions, Ice Cube and Hart are set to produce through their separate companies, Cube Vision and Hartbeat Productions. Story will produce via his company, The Story Company.

What could the plot of the movie center on?

The third film’s plot is being tightly guarded, but if you know anything about the franchise, then you’re probably familiar with Hart’s character Ben Barber, a security guard, having to prove himself to his girlfriend’s brother, elite police officer James Payton, played by Ice Cube. The first film saw the duo taking on Atlanta’s crime, and the second took them to Miami to bust a drug dealer’s ring, which extended to Atlanta’s streets.

Packer’s ‘You, Me & Tuscany’ was just released

While Packer settles his Ride Along 3 deal, he is also celebrating the debut weekend for another film he’s produced, You, Me & Tuscany. Starring Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page, the film is a rom-com set in Italy as a woman finds love after pretending she’s engaged. The film has earned $8 million in its first weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. Worldwide, the film has made over $9 million. The film reportedly cost $18 million to make.
