Hulu is heading to the era of high ’80s drama and glam with the teaser for its newest drama, Rivals.

Based on the novel by Dame Jilly Cooper, Rivals “dives into the ruthhess world of independent television in 1986–where it’s every man and woman for themselves,” according to Hulu’s description. The eight-part series is described as including hallmarks of Cooper’s Rutshire Chronicles books–“romantic entanglements, dastardly deals, sex and wit” amid the backdrop of 1980s England.

The series stars Alex Hassell, Bella Maclean, Katherine Parkinson, David Tennant, Aidan Turner and Nafessa Williams. Other cast members include Emily Atack, Catriona Chandler, Rufus Jones, Danny Dyer, Lisa McGrillis, Luke Pasqualino, Clare Rushbrook and Victoria Smurfit.

Dominic Treadwell-Collins serves as executive producer alongside Alexander Lamb, Felicity Blunt, playwright Laura Wade, Director of Scripted Content for Disney+ EMEA Lee Mason and Dame Collins. Happy Prince, part of ITV Studios, produces. Treadwell Collins and Wade serve as writers with episodic writers including Sophie Goodhar, Marek Horn, Mimi Hare & Clare Naylor, Dare Aiyegbayo and Kefi Chadwick. Tray Agyeman serves as a shadow writer for Episode 6, and Sorcha Kurien Walsh serves as staff writer.

BAFTA-nominated Elliot Hegarty serves as lead director as well as executive producer of the first four episodes. Other series directors include Dee Koppang O’Leary ande Alexandra Brodski, with Eliza Mellor serving as series producer.

Rivals comes to Hulu later this year.
