David Oyelowo is a man who realizes his wife is actually a secret assassin in the upcoming action comedy Role Play.
Oyelowo and Kaley Cuoco play a husband and wife who are trying to reignite the excitement in their marriage with drastic consequences. As the logline states: “Emma has a wonderful husband and two kids in the suburbs of New Jersey—she also has a secret life as an assassin for hire, a secret that her husband David discovers when the couple decides to spice up their marriage with a little role play.”
In the trailer below, Oyelowo’s character (also named David) replays the night he and his wife (Cuoco) were supposed to be out on the town, role-playing as other people, only for David to understand the full extent of how often his wife goes undercover to take out certain marks. The film is a change of pace for Oyelowo, who we usually see in serious roles. But in Role Play, Oyelowo gets to show more of his lighthearted side.
The film is directed by Thomas Vincent and written by Andrew Baldwin and Seth W. Owen. The film also stars Connie Nielsen and Bill Nighy.
Role Play comes to Prime Video Jan. 12, 2024.
