The first trailer for 20th Century Studios’ upcoming romantic comedy Rosaline was released and it promises to add a dose of comedy to a well-known William Shakespeare classic.
A fresh and comedic take on William Shakespeare’s love story Romeo & Juliet, Rosaline stars Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Kyle Allen and Sean Teale, as well as Minnie Driver and Bradley Whitford.
Based on the novel When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle, Rosaline is told from the perspective of the titular character, Rosaline’s cousin and Romeo’s new love interest. As played by Dever, Rosaline conspires to win Romeo back once he falls for Juliet.
Directed by Karen Maine from a screenplay by Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber, Rosaline is produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and Dan Levine. Dever, Neustadter, and Weber will executive produce the film alongside Whitney Brown, Emily Morris and Becca Edelman. Neustadter and Weber are known for their film adaptations of novels such as The Spectacular Now, The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns.
Rosaline will debut in the U.S. a Hulu Original, Star+ Original in Latin America and Star Original on Disney+ in other territories on October 14. Watch the first trailer for Rosaline below.
