Scream VI heads to the Super Bowl with its big game trailer.
The film, the first in the Scream franchise to be released in 3D, stars Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera as they once again outrun and outsmart Ghostface, the popular slasher character. This time, however, Courteney Cox and Hayden Panettiere’s franchise characters Gale Weathers and Kirby Reed are also returning.
According to the official description:
Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera (“Sam Carpenter”), Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy Meeks-Martin”), Mason Gooding (“Chad Meeks-Martin”), Jenna Ortega (“Tara Carpenter”), Hayden Panettiere (“Kirby Reed”) and Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.
The film is written by Scream 5 co-writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick based on characters by Kevin Williamson and directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of filmmaking collective Radio Silence, as reported by IndieWire. Cox serves as executive producer with Kevin Williamson, Chad Villella, Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad and Marianne Maddalena. William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein produce.
