If you’ve been missing episodes of The CW’s Black Lightning, you can now watch the first season in its entirety on Netflix.

The 13-episode season made its quick debut on Netflix days after its April 17 season finale due to a licensing deal between Netflix and The CW. The deal, struck in 2016, gives Netflix exclusive rights to past seasons of the network’s scripted series. This deal saw a massive increase in the popularity of The CW’s Riverdale when its first season premiered on Netflix last summer. It has also been credited for the reason why The CW’s Dynasty got a second season. This early Netflix move will probably prove to add more fans to the critically-acclaimed show.

So far, Black Lightning has wowed fans with its focus on both the fun superhero aspects as well as real-life issues, such as police brutality, misogyny, LGBTQ representation, and the tug of war between older and younger generations regarding the fight for social justice.

In Black Lightning, Jefferson Pierce is a man wrestling with a secret. Nine years ago, Pierce was gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, which he used to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life and his family on the line, he left his Super Hero days behind. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him… or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, Black Lightning returns – to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.

Based on the characters from D.C., Black Lightning is from Berlanti Productions and Akil Productions in association with Warner Bros.
