Everyone’s favorite “sex-positive polyamorous pansexual” is returning to set the small screen ablaze.

With the release date of the second season of Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It Netflix series approaching, the streaming giant has supplied us with first look photos at the life (and glow-up) of Nola Darling (DeWanda Wise).

Based on the series of photos, it’s safe to say that Nola will be front and center, as she should be. However, it looks like we’ll get to see plenty more of breakout character Mars Blackmon (Anthony Ramos), Nola’s quirky and bespectacled friend both in and out of the bedroom. It’s also worth noting that Nola rocks some classic box braids in one of the photos.

As for the synopsis, the second season of the Spike Lee joint will see Nola grappling with her newfound success as a Brooklyn-based artist. Her journey will take her beyond the rapidly gentrifying streets of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Coming along for the ride will be the trifecta of Mars, Greer Childs (Cleo Anthony) and Jamie Overstreet (Lyriq Bent), as well as her friends Opal (Ilfenesh Hadera), Clorinda Bradford (Margot Bingham) and Shemekka Epps (Chyna Layne).

Similar to the 1989 film, the Netflix adaptation of She’s Gotta Have It has received equally positive reviews. Shadow and Act’s Aramide Tinubu deemed it “the best thing Spike Lee has birthed in years.” Only time will tell if Season 2 will live up to the hype.

She’s Gotta Have It returns to our Netflix queue on May 24.
