The upcoming, untitled spinoff of Snowfall starring Isaiah John and Gail Bean has added nine actors in recurring roles, Blavity’s Shadow and Act can confirm.

The nine actors include original Snowfall cast member Quincy Chad, who will reprise his role of Big Deon. The other eight are Mykelti Williamson, Nicki Micheaux, Brandon Mychal Smith, Isidora Goreshter, Eric Balfour, Richard Portnow and Zaire Adams.

Who are the series regulars alongside Bean and John?

The cast already includes the previously announced series regulars of Asante Blackk, Peyton Alex Smith and Simmie Sims III.

The long-gestating project was given a pilot order before being officially ordered to series last November. It is from Malcolm Spellman and the original Snowfall producers Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Julie DeJoie, Michael London and Trevor Engelson.

What’s the plot of the ‘Snowfall’ spinoff?

The logline is as follows: Set in ‘90s Los Angeles soon after the end of the original series, a recovering addict strives to take West Coast rap mainstream — while gang wars erupt and record labels move to exploit hip hop culture for their own gain.

Snowfall ran for six seasons from 2017 to 2023, was created by the late John Singleton, and focused on a group of characters during the ’80’s crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles, primarily Damson Idris’ Franklin Saint. John, Bean, Carter Hudson, Emily Rios, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Michael Hyatt, Amin Joseph and Angela Lewis also starred.

The series is produced by FX Productions.
