Fresh off of the Screen Actors Guild award nominations for his role on This is Us and an ensemble cast member of Black Panther, Sterling K. Brown just nabbed a new role.

He’ll star in an upcoming biopic set at Fox Searchlight called, The Fence. It is based on the book, The Fence: A Police Cover-up Along Boston’s Racial Divide, by Dick Lehr. The movie will “follows the true story of Michael Cox, an African-American undercover cop who is mistaken for a suspect and brutally beaten by his own force following one of the largest police chases in Boston history. As Cox seeks answers and justice for what happened, he finds himself on the other side of the “blue wall of silence” as the Boston Police Department aggressively covers it up.” Variety first broke the news

Peter Nicks is the director George Pelecanos and Dennis Lehane are adapting the script. They originally put the adaptation into motion at HBO.

A production start date is unknown right now. Brown just recently finished filming A24’s Waves and is lending his voice to Frozen 2His next feature film is The Rhythm Section with Blake Lively.
