Steve Harvey

Among the many mysteries about Steve Harvey (aside from how the three-time married author and talkshow host became recognized as a “relationship expert”) is, where he finds the time to do all that he does. In addition to his daily morning radio show, he hosts game shows “The Family Feud”, “The Celebrity Family Feud” and “Little Hot Shots”, and that is when he’s not hosting other TV specials, guest appearances, and appearing in TV commercials.

And of course there’s his daily afternoon syndicated TV gab best, “Steve Harvey” which is now in its fifth season. But not for long, since it was announced yesterday that, at the end of the current TV season, Harvey will end his talk-show. This also happens, not by coincidence, to coincide with the expiration of his current contract with EndemolShine North America next year, who produce the show.

But he not going anywhere. In fact, Harvey will be back in the fall of 2017, with a new syndicated talk show that will be produced by his new producing partner, IMG, the management and production company of the William Morris/Endeavor Agency. More importantly for Harvey, he will also have ownership and creative control over his new talk-show, which he does not have on his current show. The new show will be distributed by NBC/Universal Television who also distribute “Steve Harvey.”

However, unlike his current show, which is produced in Chicago, at NBC Channel 5 studios on North Michigan ave, his new talk-show will be produced in Los Angeles. This means that he’ll no longer have to endure any more brutal winters in the Windy City; also, hosting the show in LA will make it a lot easier to get celebrity guests, especially since the new show will reportedly be “celebrity driven”.

Also the change of venues and the format could be a boost for the talk-show, which has seen its ratings sag of late. Although it’s been puling in about 2.3 million viewers regularly, with a 1.7 rating, according to TV by the Numbers, which puts the program at No. 25 of the top 25 syndicated shows, as of the last week of October.
