Even though Sundance wrapped a few weeks ago, some big deals are still going down. Amazon is in talks to acquire Garrett Bradley’s documentary, Time. The deal is reportedly worth $5 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who first reported the news.
The documentary chronicles Fox Rich, the “indomitable matriarch and modern-day abolitionist” who “strives to keep her family together while fighting for the release of her incarcerated husband.” The intimate project was filmed over two decades.
Bradley won the festival’s Directing Award: U.S. Documentary and was one of three Black women who won the festival’s top prizes.
Our Sundance review of the film reads, “Time is about moments, lives lived, faith, pain, tenacity and sheer love. This isn’t a film about policies and legal jargon. It is a story about human beings, and an entire family hanging in the balance, held captive by a system that refuses to see them.”
