The gospel-centric reality music competition Sunday Best has been revived at BET.
Kirk Franklin returns as the host and mentor to the contestants, while Erica Campbell returns as a judge. Jonathan McReynolds and Kelly Price have come on board as judges.
The new season premieres June 30 on BET. Jesse Collins (The New Edition Story) exec produces. Josh Greenberg (The Sing-Off, Lip Sync Battle) is the showrunner. Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan–Clay and are co-exec producers.
BET says, “The new season kicks off with in-person auditions in front of the judges as they narrow the field from 20 to the top 12. For the first time, the contestants were able to use an online submissions process, after which the team led a nationwide search for this year’s contestants, leading up to the much-anticipated live auditions in Dallas, TX, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, GA, and Detroit, MI.”
Sunday Best, which first premiered in 2007, last aired in 2015 with its all-star themed eighth season.
