In the tradition of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, NBA star Kevin Durant is making his grand entrance into the arena of film and television.

Apple has greenlit a basketball-themed drama inspired by Durant’s experience. Set in Washington, D.C., Swagger will give viewers a  look at the players and their families whose lives become intertwined with the world of basketball. We initially reported in February that the series was being developed at Apple’s forthcoming streaming service.

The series is written and directed by Reggie Rock Bythewood, who was the co-creator of the acclaimed police drama Shots Fired. CBS TV Studios and Imagine Television will also lend a producing hand. Bythewood is the showrunner.

Swagger is among the plethora of original content slated to be streamed by Apple. The tech titan’s streaming service, although still in its infancy, has pledged $1 billion in producing original content, putting it in competition with fellow streaming services like Netflix and Disney+.
