The cast for Sylvie continues to line up. The film which stars Tessa Thomspon and Nnamdi Asomugha, who also produce the film, has recently cast Ryan Michelle Bathe, Rege Jean Page and Eva Longoria Baston. Now, it’s added How to Get Away With Murder star Aja Naomi King.
The film follows Sylvie (Thompson), a woman who meets saxophonist Robert (Asomugha) when he takes a job in her father’s record store. Years later after a whirlwind summer romance, they meet once again and realize the love between each other hasn’t died.
Bathe will play TV cooking show producer Kate, who hires Sylvie (Thompson) as a production assistant. The working relationship brings them closer together, and Kate becomes her mentor to Sylvie. Page will play Chico, a jazz drummer in the Dickie Brewster Quartet. It is unclear what King’s role is.
Eugene Ashe is the director and the screenplay writer. Production on the film is currently underway in Los Angeles.
King’s casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Her notable film roles before this include Birth of a Nation and The Upside.
