Taraji P. Henson’s upcoming film Best of Enemies has a release date.
The civil rights drama, produced by STX Films, is set to premiere on April 5, 2019. Henson will portray Ann Atwater, a civil rights activist in Durham, North Carolina, who was embroiled in a decade-long battle with KKK leader C.P. Ellis (Sam Rockwell).
The two eventually spearheaded a community meeting to solve the issue of court-mandated segregation in schools.
Babou Ceesay, Anne Heche, Wes Bentley, Bruce McGill, John Gallagher Jr. and Nick Searcy also star.
The film is written and directed by Robin Bissell, who executive produced The Hunger Games and Seabiscuit. Best of Enemies is inspired by Osha Gray Davidson’s book The Best Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South.
Henson is no stranger to historical dramas. The Academy Award-nominated actress starred in the 2016 box office phenom Hidden Figures.
