Fox is planning an hour-long “Great Gatsby”-inspired episode of its long-running animated series “The Simpsons,” with a hip-hop twist.
The upcoming episode, which will be titled “The Great Phatsby,” has booked a cast that includes Snoop Dogg, RZA, and Common (voicing cartoon versions of themselves), as well as Taraji P. Henson and Keegan Michael-Key as characters named Praline (the former wife of a music mogul who has conned Mr Burns into bankruptcy), and a rapper named Jazzy James (who joins Praline, Homer and Bart to help Mr Burns get his revenge) respectively.
The official synopsis reads: Mr. Burns tries to relive his glory days and crosses paths with a mysterious music mogul. After being conned by him and reduced to bankruptcy, Mr. Burns seeks revenge on the music producer with the help of Homer, Bart, rapper Jazzy James and the mogul’s ex-wife, Praline.
Written by Dan Greaney and Matt Selman, the hour-long “The Great Phatsby” episode is set to premiere in January.
“The Simpsons” is currently in is 28th season which kicked off on September 25.
