The Bachelor contestant Bri Springs is airing out her grievances with the show and accusing producers of cutting an important segment of her discussing race amid such a controversial season. Springs says that not only was she on set during the After the Rose special, but she also says her final conversation with Matt James did not make the episode.

“I was extremely disappointed,” Springs said during a recent chat with Extra. “You know, I realized that there was probably a lot of content to digest between Matt and his conversations with Michelle and Rachel, and the announcement of two Bachelorettes …”

Despite understanding the other contestants, including Rachael Kirkconnell, needed their moment with James for closure, she believes her segment was equally as important.

“I can respect that each one of those women had the time that they needed to get closure and have those conversations, but yeah it was disappointing because I do feel like I had a great conversation with Emmanuel about my journey and I was able to kind of wrap it up all in a bow and I got good closure from it, and I wish people could have seen me reach that conclusion.”

Furthermore, Springs believes the topic of race is watered down, despite the chaos from the season with Kirkconnell and James being the series’ first Black lead.

“I think we can all agree that [if] this season has taught us anything, it’s that the show does have an opportunity to tackle much larger and bigger conversations,” Springs said. “I think a lot of that was gone missed, honestly, because of the potentially over-exaggerated and unnecessary drama at times. So I hope that we can see diverse stories that are indicative of the world that we live in.”

In the future, she wants more people of color behind the scenes and a better vetting system of contestants to avoid similar mishaps.
