Fans of The Boondocks obviously remember the voice of Robert “Grandad” Freeman being portrayed by the late great John Witherspoon.
With a reboot of the classic animated series on the horizon at HBO Max, rumors have been burgeoning about Witherspoon’s potential successor in the role of Grandad. Recently (and out of nowhere), Twitter users began spreading an unfounded rumor that former Vine star and actor Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor would be voicing Grandad in the new series.
Once the unfounded rumor went viral, King Bach denied the rumors that he would be portraying Grandad in a text thread screenshot.

Bach was the only one to shut down the rumors. John Witherspoon’s son, J.D., also took to Twitter to shut down the rumors.

In his tweets, J.D. also revealed that he and King Bach are great friends.
All good G, the internet is a wild place lol I just didn’t want unnecessary hate being thrown at Bach, were both good friends, and I literally just got off the phone with him about this whole situation.

He also spoke on fan support and the calls for him to voice his father’s character as well.
I do appreciate y’all’s support, but I’ve moved on from the situation & plan to live my life happily pursuing the career I’ve earned way before anyone knew of me through my dads death
If the people at The Boondocks ever want 2 be honest with you all, that’s on them
