Apple TV+ has dropped the trailer for The Buccaneers, an upcoming eight-episode drama series inspired by Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel of the same name.
Created by Katherine Jakeways, The Buccaneers will premiere on Apple TV+ on Nov. 8 with the first three episodes, followed by weekly releases every Wednesday until Dec. 13.
The Buccaneers follows a group of young American women who disrupt the London social scene of the 1870s, challenging tradition and seeking more than just husbands and titles.
The cast includes Kristine Frøseth, Alisha Boe, Josie Totah, Aubri Ibrag, Imogen Waterhouse, Christina Hendricks, Mia Threapleton, Josh Dylan, Guy Remmers, Matthew Broome and Barney Fishwick.
The series features a modern soundtrack, blending 1870s English aristocracy with music from top female performers, including Olivia Rodrigo’s “all-american bitch.” The show’s soundtrack includes songs from Taylor Swift, Boygenius, Maggie Rogers, Bikini Kill, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Angel Olsen, Brandi Carlile, among others, as well as original music by Miya Folick, Lucius, Alison Mosshart, Warpaint, Gracie Abrams, Sharon Van Etten, Bully, Danielle Ponder and series composers AVAWAVES.
The series is led by an all-female creative team, with Katherine Jakeways as the creator and Susanna White as the director and an executive producer, alongside Beth Willis. It is produced for Apple TV+ by The Forge Entertainment.
