Actor Earle Hyman, most known for his role as Russell Huxtable on The Cosby Show has died at 91.

He portrayed Cliff Huxtable (Bill Cosby)’s father on the show over its entire series run from 1984-1992. In 1986 he was nominated for an Emmy Award as Outstanding Guest Performer in a Series.

Another notable television role of his was voicing Panthro/Redeye in Thundercats.

Hyman had extensive stage work, debuting on Broadway as just a teen in Run, Little Chillun. 

In 1980, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his work in The Lady From Dubuque. 

He was 91 years old.
