OWN has dropped the trailer for the upcoming drama series The Kings of Napa, which is from Claws showrunner Janine Sherman Barrois.
Academy Award winner Matthew Cherry, who won an Oscar for his acclaimed short film Hair Love, directed first two episodes.
Starring Ebonée Noel, Rance Nix, Karen LeBlanc, Yaani King Mondschein, Ashlee Brian and Devika Parikh, The Kings of Napa chronicles a Black wine dynasty. Isiah Whitlock Jr., Heather Alicia Simms, Curtis Hamilton and Samantha Walkes are recurring.
Noel will portrays August King, the middle sibling and the family’s brilliant marketing maven and wine connoisseur always looking for new ways to expand the business. Rance Nix is August’s older brother Dana King, the savvy CFO of the winery. LeBlanc is Vanessa King, the matriarch of the family who gave up her career to help run the winery in Napa with her husband Reginald King, played by Isiah Whitlock Jr.
The synopsis as is follows:
The Kings of Napa is centered on a gorgeous and picturesque Napa Valley, California vineyard owned by the Kings, an aspirational African American family whose wealth and status lands them on the pages of design magazines and society pages. The wine business has brought the family success and acclaim, but following the patriarch’s sudden exit from the company, his three children must grapple for the reigns to the kingdom — to their own power, wealth, and legacy.”
